EngliSoft is a BRASSCOM initiative in partnership with the Federal Government. It is an English language proficiency certification program for the IT market. The project tackles an old problem: the shortage of IT professionals with command of the English language, a great stumbling block to the international sale of IT services.

It was agreed by the companies in the field that the lack of a proficiency evaluation specific to the IT industry was a great challenge to be overcome. The decision was made to develop a reliable mechanism to precisely evaluate required proficiency.

A joint venture between BRASSCOM and FINEP discussed, created and tested a three level English Language Proficiency Certificate designed for IT professionals and available to anyone who wishes to take the test. It is an online test, administered in controlled locations, with individual grading of essays and an oral exam at the final level. Registration process is currently under reformulation, on August new applications will be accepted.

It is expected that the market will gradually adopt the test. To achieve this, BRASSCOM is willing to establish partnerships with language teaching institutions and with Federal, State and City governments. BRASSCOM is also ready to make available to public technical training institutions all educational materials for test preparation.
